Injury!

Well, this is old news but....I broke my foot! (and I had to stop running) Yes, it has been that long since I blogged. I did it at Stroller Strides at the park while we were running up and down a curb. I had a boot on for 6 weeks and now I am not supposed to run for 2 more weeks. So, I am not going to be able to run the 1/2 marathon in Vancouver in August. I am bummed but I always have the 1/2 in San Fran in October. I guess I will just start training for that next Friday. Here is a pic of my x-ray and my foot in the boot. The fracture is at the 5th metatarsal. Hopefully it heals up just fine.

Kian-10 months

My little big guy is 10 months old. He has accomplished a lot in the last month. He says mama and dada pretty well now and at the right times...when he wants attention of course. He says hi and waves his little hand at people. This is the cutest thing I have seen him do. For the big milestone...he is walking! I can not believe my 10 month old is walking! He started right around the day he turned 10 months. He has gotten pretty good over the last 2 weeks and chooses to walk most of the time rather than crawl. I weighed him yesterday and he weighs 26lbs. I think that is big but we will check him out at his 1yr well check in about a month and a half. He is wearing 24 month clothes and I just moved him to a size 5 diaper. I can't complain...my boys are big and healthy.

Naison is currently undergoing potty training. He is doing ok but it is frustrating for mommy. He has also become quite the swimmer. He can almost swim all the way across the pool (the short way) by himself. He loves to be in the pool and jump and swim to people. Naison is turing out to a very sweet boy. He is very concerned when he sees his friends crying and likes to make people feel better by giving them kisses.
He also has very good manners and says please and thank you all the time. I am so proud of him.

That's what is happening in the G family these days. Love to all!

Beba comes to AZ

My Aunt Betty, Beba, came to visit from Arkansas a couple weeks ago. She had seen Kian before but he was a little guy. She was surprised to see he had grown so much in a few months...and he actually took his first couple of steps while she was here. Naison was also excited to see her and gave her lots of love and kisses. We did a lot of hanging with the kids during the day, cooking, and eating family dinners together. I even made my nana's pound cake for dessert. It was a rather short trip this time but we will see her again in June in Arkansas for my niece Katie's wedding! Thanks for coming to visit Beba! We love you.

The G's go to Texas...Austin that is.

We all took a fabulous family vacation to Austin, TX to see Victor and Neda get married. It was a wonderful trip. The whole Ghaemmaghami family was there and my mom and stepdad went to help out with the kids. Both plane trips couldn't have gone better...I was in shock! We started off the trip at Vic and Neda's place for dinner and the the next day woke up and had a boat ride with all the kids/cousins...Vafa was our captain. That night we had rehearsal for the wedding and then dinner, at this amazing BBQ place, where we got to see more Austin friends and family...Brian, Jubilee, and family were there and lots of Neda's family.

The next day we got all the grandkids together so Mama Shahnaz and Baba Iraj could see them all and we hung out int he hotel lobby and then went swimming. I had other plans...like getting my eyebrows threaded and getting my hair and makeup done. It felt nice to have someone else get me ready for the day! This would not have been possible if it wasn't for mommy...she stayed in the hotel with the kids while they napped. This was the wedding day so it was crucial for naptime to happen for fear of meltdowns during the wedding.

That night was the moment we have all been waiting for...the wedding!!! Congrats to the new Mr and Mrs Ghaemmaghami! Naison did an excellent job as ring bearer...accepting a lollipop in exchange for the pillow with the rings on it. He was super cute in his suit. Kian also had a suit  and they both tolerated them pretty well.

Naison had lots of fun at the reception dancing, blowing bubbles, and eating lollipops. Thanks to Neda and Victor for hosting an amazing wedding/party. We love you guys and are so happy for you!!!

The next day we went to Zilker Park...cause you can't go to Austin and not go to Zilker Park. Nais had so much fun riding the train and looking Barton Springs.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Austin and can't wait to go back real soon!

New House

We bought a new house in the same community we lived in before and we moved in on March 23rd! I am so excited. I love this house and the floor plan. A big thanks goes out to Shelley, my stepmom, for helping us move (which she volunteered for) and my mama for watching BOTH of my kids all day long! Moving went pretty well despite the movers being 4 hours late. We moved all the toys and stuff that couldn't really be packed in a box and the movers moved all the big stuff and boxes. We are pretty much settled in now and just need to buy a few more things to fill up all the space.

So far we have 2 areas that have turned into playrooms and toys in each of the boys rooms. I feel like toys are taking over my house. Hopefully it won't be much longer until we can keep toys in the right places. We also have a basement and pool in this house. Vaf is in the process of turing the basement into a game room (man cave). Not exactly what I had in mind but he deserves it if he wants it. We have been swimming already too. The weather is perfect for the pool right now.

So, we have been in our new home for about a month and I love it so much. I was sad to leave our old house at first because that is where we brought our babies home, but now I can't wait to make some wonderful family memories here! Love to all!!!

Legoland!!!

My mom and Bob took us to Legoland at the end of March. Naison, Tatum, and Anthony had so much fun. I think Kian kind of liked it too but he was in the stroller most of the time.
So, we started out our vacation with a road trip to CA. Vafa and Papa were in charge of driving.

The kids did great on the way there. We took turns with Kian in the car since he needed to be constantly entertained. Nais watched some movies and ate snacks. When we got there, Vaf took the kids down to the beach.

The next day we headed to Legoland. Nais could ride most of the rides and Tatum and Anth could ride all of them. We rode all morning then stopped for lunch and then rode some more.

The next day we started off at the Sealife aquarium, which was amazing. Kian loved looking at all the creatures. The we headed back to Legoland and found the little kid land, which I have forgotten the name of, and it was the best place ever! Naison had so much fun running around in the town. Kian even got out of the stroller and played for a while.

There was so much to see and do in Legoland and Naison was the perfect age for it. We all had a blast. Thanks mom and Bob for taking us on a great vacation. We love you!!!

1st ER visit!

The dreaded thing happened....Nais got a peanut! This is the scariest thing that has happened since my kids have been alive. Nais has a peanut allergy...4/5 on the allergy scale. We all know it and he knows it too. The problem is is that he doesn't really know what a peanut is so he doesn't know to say no if someone gives him one. Well, one of his friends at stroller strides gave him one and I saw it out of the corner of my eye...I rushed over and grabbed it out of his mouth. I sprinted to my car for the Benadryl and EpiPen (which I now have on my stroller at all times). I didn't know how bad it was going to get.

I gave him some Benadryl and he seemed to be fine for a while. Then he started vomiting everywhere. We rushed home and I took all of his clothes off cause they were nasty and he had hives and was scratching all over and saying ouchie. At that point I noticed his face was swelling up and I knew I had to jab that EpiPen in his leg. Vafa and my friend Stephanie (both on the phone) had to reassure me to give the EpiPen. I know I am a nurse but when it is your kid it's not that easy. So I said, "Nais mom has to give you an owie. I'm really sorry but I have to do it." I jabbed his leg with the EpiPen and off to the ER we went. Vafa met us there and he stayed with Nais so I could come home with Kian.

Nais got some steroids and was monitored for about 6 hours and then got to come home with 5 days of meow steroids. His friend Sam was also down at PCH in the ER at the same time so he actually had a buddy there...and one of our friends named Jeana brought her kids up to visit.

While this was all very scary, it could have turned out much worse. The doctor said the next time it happens it will be much faster so I have to have my EpiPen on me at all times. I have been coaching Nais and he now knows what a peanut is, what it looks like, and that  he is not supposed to eat them. Thank you God that my big boy is OK. I hope we never have to do this again.
